Program
Day 1.
Arrival in Yakutsk.
Rest.
Day 2. Departure for Ust' Nera by AN-24 aircraft. Flight duration: 2,5 hours.
Hotel accommodation. Introduction to Ust' Nera- the gold mining
center of Yakutia. Visit to the GULAG museum. Lunch and dinner at a cafe.Day 3. Departure for Badran- village by a 4WD minibus (86 km distance). Introduction
to the gold miner's lifestyle. Arrival in Tomtor - village (460 km distance),
accommodation, dinner at a privet hotel (an apartment hotel- double rooms).Day 4. Breakfast, tour to Tomtor. Visit to the ice-sculpture museum, winter palace
of Chyskhan (symbol and Lord of the Cold), visit to
the GULAG- museum, Santa Claus cottage. Lunch. Ice-fishing. You can take a part
and learn the ice-fishing and fish-dressing techniques, taste "stroganina"-
instantly frozen fish cut in chips. In the evening- traditional dances of the
indigenous people of Oymyakon- area performed by children's dance group "Eym".
Day 5. Transfer to Oymyakon- village. Pole of the Cold tour - tour of the place
where the lowest temperature (-71,2 C) was registered. Receiving certificates
of visiting the Pole of Cold. Lunch in Oymyakon. Horse riding is arrange on a
request. In the evening transfer to Tomtor. Day 6. Departure for Khandyga- village by a 4 WD minibus (470 km distance). Visit
to Yuchyugey- village (60 km distance)- Evenk reindeer breeder's settlement. Introduction
to their life, culture and traditions, reindeer riding. Traditional cuisine lunch.
Further route goes across the Verkhoynsk Mountains along Kolymsky Highway. Late
at night- arrival in Khandyga, double room accommodation at the hotel, dinner.Day 7. Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Yakutsk by a 4 WD minibus (430 km
distance). Lunch at the roadside cafe. Driving over the great ice- covered rivers
of Siberia (Lena and Aldan). Arrival in Yakutsk late at night. Hotel accommodation.Day 8. introduction to Yakutsk. City sightseeing tour, visit to the Mammoth Museum,
the Institute of Permafrost Studies, the Treasure House of Yakutia. Day 9. Early check-out from the hotel. Departure from Yakutsk.
